I can’t believe it is November already. Hard to believe it, especially because we should be having some warm and sunny days here in OZ by now. Instead we are getting lots of rain and 16ÂșC days.
So since we are so close to the end of the year I am happy to show you this very cool 2011 calendar in which I participated. It features twelve of the loveliest neighbourhoods from Melbourne and beyond (including Brooklyn), carefully selected and illustrated by eleven of Australia’s most talented illustrators… and by me!
The calendar is a project by
Lucy Feagins from The Design Files, published by Jeremy Wortsman from
Jacky Winter /
Lamington Drive Gallery and designed by
Kat Macleod and
Liz Wilson at
Ortolan.
Illustrators include
Beci Orpin,
James Gulliver Hancock,
Kat chadwick,
Kat Macleod,
Madeleine Stamer,
Webuyyourkids amongst others.
I was asked to illustrate Darlinghurst which is a lovely inner-city suburb here in Sydney and I had good fun drawing it. They gave me the colour palette to be used so it gave me the chance to work with colours I don’t normally use. From that moment I knew the result would be surprising and refreshing for me.
It doesn’t show on these previews but orange is fluoro!
I have included some photos Lucy sent. I still have to see it in flesh! If you want to have a better look you can
click here and maybe buy one? Limited edition A2 prints are for sale too. Exhibition launches November 18 so you still have time to catch a plane.
